India's longest bridge Dhola-Sadia Bridge in assam inaugurated by our PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the country’s longest bridge - the Dhola-Sadia Bridge in Assam today. Mr Modi named the bridge after legendary singer Bhupen Hazarika. This three lane, 9.15 kilometre bridge has been built over the Brahmaputra river. It links Dhola to Sadia, both in Assam.
The bridge will reduce the distance from Rupai on NH- 37 in Assam to Meka-Roing on NH-52 in Arunachal Pradesh by165KM.The travel time between the two places will come down from the current six hours to just one hour, a total five hour reduction. This will result in saving of petrol and diesel worth 10 Lakh rupees per day.

IAF's missing Sukhoi-30 jet spotted in dense jungles of Assam
The wreckage of the IAF Sukhoi fighter jet that went missing with two pilots on board was spotted today after three days of search operations. The Sukhoi jet had gone missing after taking off from the Tezpur
Salonibari Air Force station in Assam on May 23 on a routine training sortie. Defence spokesperson Lt Col Sombit Ghosh told a news agency that the wreckage of the missing SU-30 jet was spotted close to the last known position of the aircraft, which was 60 km north-west of Tezpur in Assam's Sonitpur district.

CM of UP launches JE (Japanese Encephalitis) vaccination drive in 38 districts.
In Uttar Pradesh, a massive immunisation drive has been launched in 38 districts to eradicate Japanese Encephalitis. Chief Minister Yogi Aditya nath launched the drive from Kushinagar district yesterday. The government also launched a toll free number to get or provide any information about encephalitis.

Record procurement of paddy made by Telangana state
In Telangana the Civil Supplies Department has procured a total of45 lakh metric tons -LMT of paddy till Wednesday during 2016-17 including 17 LMT in Kharif and 28 LMT in Rabi season.
In the coming 20 days, the department would procure about 10 to 15 LMT more paddy, Civil Supplies Commissioner CV Anand said. He informed that during 2010-11 Rabi season only 17 LMT of paddy was purchased in Telangana region but this year’s Rabi season till now 28 LMT of paddy has been purchased.
A total of 2,200 crore rupees had been paid to five lakh farmers through online for the purchase of 28 lakh metric tons of paddy from 3,020 purchase centres in Telangana state, Anand said. From next Kharif season onwards more purchase centres will be opened in all 31 districts.

Government selects 5 bankers selected for IOC stake sale
The government has selected five merchant bankers to manage its three per cent stake sale in Indian Oil Corporation, IOC, which could fetch about six thousand crore rupees to the exchequer. The bankers are - Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, Deutsche Equities, SBI Capital Markets and ICICI Securities.


Sensex reached 31000 marks for the first time
The Sensex at the the Bombay Stock Exchange this afternoon breached the 31,000 mark for the first timeever. After a firm opening this morning, the Sensex gained further ground, and had rallied 277 points, to 31,027.
