The Continent of Africa observes and celebrates in a special way the 25 May. The day is known as “Africa Day.”Africa Day is promoted by the African Union (AU). This year 2017, the African Union highlights the theme: ‘Harnessing the demographic dividend through investments in youth.’Africa Day was formerly known as Africa Freedom Day.

PM asks all state govts to accord high priority to CCTNS to ensure better law and order:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked all state governments to accord high priority to the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) to ensure better law and order.
During a meeting of PRAGATI on Wednesday, Mr Modi said high priority should be given to this network, so that maximum benefit could be taken from it, in the interest of law and order. He urged the states to accord high priority to this network, so that maximum benefit could be taken from it.

Cabinet approves issuing bonds to raise Rs 2,360 crore for renewable energy schemes:
The government will raise bonds of 2,360 crore rupees for renewable energy. A decision in this regard was taken by the Union Cabinet last evening.The bonds will be raised by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and funds will be used in various renewable energy programmes.
The decision will boost infrastructure in the sector and facilitate achievement of ambitious targets for the renewable energy sector.

E-clinics service for farmers started in J&K to double farmers’income by 2022:
The J&K government launched an eclinics service for farmers with the aim to double farmers’income by 2022. TheDepartment of Agriculture,in collaboration with Centrefor Agriculture and BiosciencesInternational(CABI), has set up 15 plant clinics in Samba, Kathuaand Jammu.

SBI to sell bad loans worth Rs1,471 crore to ARCs:
India’s largest lender State Bank of India (SBI) has put on block bad loans with outstanding balance of Rs1,471.47 crore on sale to asset reconstruction companies and financial institutions.Among the accounts on sale, the largest exposure is on Adhunik Power & Natural Resources Ltd, where banks have converted their debt into equity under the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) strategic debt restructuring.

SBI launches national hackathon next month:
State Bank of India (SBI) has launched a national hackathon for developers, startups and students to come up with innovative ideas and solutions for the banking sector. The hackathon, named ‘Code For Bank’, will focus on the business value driven by technologies like predictive analytics, fin-tech/block chain, digital payments, IoT (Internet of Things), artificial intelligence, machine learning, BOTS and robotic process automation.
